About the Institute of Radiology

The seven radiologists who practice at the Radiology Institute at the Clinique Générale-Beaulieu specialize in various sectors of radiology including senology, oncology, neuroradiology, gastroenterology, urology, osteoarticular and interventional radiology, more specifically neuroradiology and oncology.

They have an experienced medical-technical team comprising 14 medical radiology technicians (MRT) and 10 medical secretaries.

In August 2006, the Radiology Institute of the Beaulieu General Clinic installed and developed the use of a high-field 3T MRI apparatus – the first of this new type of device to be installed in Europe. High-resolution images of the central and peripheral nervous systems can be obtained combined with diffusion, perfusion, tractography and spectroscopy studies providing an invaluable support in terms of the diagnosis.  Senological studies benefit from increased resolution in time and space thanks to this device as do angiographical studies, which can be carried out in so-called “4D” temporal resolution. The technical advances made with this 3T device compared to its predecessors help to produce better quality abdominal and pelvic images, especially in hepatic and pancreatic studies as well as in prostatic, utero-ovarian and rectal studies in addition to perineal investigations.  High resolution ensures more efficient osteoarticular studies and the increase in the rate of image acquisition ensures whole body examinations over an appropriate time-span.

A second MRI apparatus was installed in April 2007, namely the so-called “open” vertical field 1 T MRI. Contrary to other horizontal field MRI devices with a circular “tunnel” design, the so-called “open” device is “doughnut”-shaped, and the scanning table slides between the 2 magnetic plates with unobstructed space at the side.  This configuration guarantees an open approach and lateral visibility, which is ideal for claustrophobic or corpulent patients.

In April 2006 and June 2007, two new conventional radiology rooms were created at the Radiology Institute: one room with a "flat panel" device allowing interventional neuroradiological examinations to be conducted in particular, along with digitalized angiography with intervention time, and a second room dedicated to gastrointestinal, urological and hysterographical examinations.  Both rooms complete the orthopaedic suite installed in April 2006.

The digital mammography room installed in 2005 is linked to computer-aided diagnosis as well as to a mammary intervention suite and an ultrasonography suite.

The CT system is scheduled for refurbishment in 2008.

All of these diagnostic and therapeutic resources are expertly controlled by medical-technical staff who, with their warm welcome and willingness to assist, know exactly how to make you forget the highly technical aspects of radiology
