Arrival at reception. Who is going to look after me?
Answer: The secretariat, then the technician to take the X-rays or carry out the examination. You will then be directed to a radiologist.
Is there a long waiting time compared to the hours stipulated? Are there frequent delays?
Answer: Not generally. Delays may arise due to the arrival of emergency cases.
How long does a radiographical examination last on average?
Answer:
- A few minutes for an X-ray,
- 30 minutes for a scan
- 10 to 45 minutes for MRI,
- 15 to 20 minutes for an ultrasound scan
- 10 minutes for a mammogram,
- 15 minutes to 1 hour for some gastrointestinal, urological or gynaecological examinations.
Will I have to undress and, if so, will I be given privacy and a locker for my valuables?
Answer: YES all of the examinations require the patient to undress. Dressing gowns are available. Furthermore, there are keys for all of our lockers.
Must I inform the doctor or reception if I suffer from a condition such as asthma or claustrophobia?
Answer: All types of contraindications must be reported at reception (generally allergy and pregnancy). However, medical staff routinely ask these questions.
What happens during an MRI scan. Will someone be observing me should any problems arise, e.g. if I feel unwell ?
Answer: All patients are monitored by the medical team (doctor and technician) throughout the examination.
To whom are the results sent ?
Response: As a general rule, the results are sent to the doctor, but the radiologist gives a verbal account to the patient.
What is the payment procedure ?
Answer: Invoices are generally sent to the patient’s home address. However, patients who do not attend the institute on a regular basis must settle their invoice before leaving.
What happens to my information and data after my visit ?
Answer: All radiological examinations are archived in our computer system and shall remain confidential.
